About Brian Commerford
My work expresses the spiritual qualities of the animals and birds by means of composition, color, and brushwork. As I paint, I try to create a vibrational stamp that reflects whatever spiritual quality or qualities that I'm trying to express in that particular piece. I use a lot of close-ups because I want a fairly intense experience, such as gentleness, joy, and love, to be felt by the onlooker. I received my art education in California at the California College of Arts & Crafts and Sonoma State University, where I received a B.A. in Art Studio. This is a wonderful uplifting painting Brian. I was once told by an ancient native american man that my spirit bird is the raven. When I lived in a tee pee in Montana in 1978 a raven would meet me at the bottom of the mountain every evening and fly ahead of me as I drove my 67 VW Camper bus around and around the spiral driveway to the top.
